Elena Baigorri Saenz

After 14 years of absence, Elena returns to the position of Director of the Coral Avilesina. In her previous period, between 1986 and 1996, The Coral reached its peak and got its major awards.

Elena is professor of percussion, she studied six years of cello and she has knowledge of piano, harmony and singing. The new director of the Coral Avilesina founded the Music School in Corvera where she taught some years. She has also taught at the Music School of Candas, in the Academy "Salinas" in Salinas and she was a professor of percussion at the Conservatory of Music in Gijón. She has attended several training courses in choral conducting

As a singer she has been part of the folk group "herb", directed by José María Martínez Sánchez. And she was also a component and founder of the Polyphonic Choir of Avilés, participating in all the concerts offered by the group from 1976 to 1992 and recording two albums.

As a cellist and percussionist she has been part of the Conservatory Orchestra "Julian Orbón" in Aviles, participating in many concerts. She has also worked on recordings with various groups. She was part of the band "Nocheros" as singer and percussionist from 1997 to 1999. With the Asturian band "Nuberu" made a tour of Asturias

As choirmaster she has collaborated in assembling and recording of the "Urban Hymn" (European Project), along with the band "Julian Orbón" of Aviles, a work composed by JC Casimiro.
